Where’s all the pottery?

Where’s all the pottery?

I am a full time potter. Except when I’m a part time tax preparer.

That’s right - January through April I transform into a number crunching madwoman, juggling pots and paperwork in a demanding and exciting balancing act. It’s not for the faint of heart! Which is of course part of the reason I have done it. I love the challenge of using two very different parts of my brain and skills. I love the growth I’ve experienced by doing something out of my comfort zone (trust me I am not a numbers or a paperwork person by nature). I appreciate the opportunity to practice another trade. Taxes used to scare me, which is part of why I learned to do them. It’s a long story I love to tell - ask me about it some time and I’ll tell you more!

Despite the strange and surprising affection I have developed for my tax job, it has taken quite a toll on me and my pottery business this year. Those of you who follow me on social media may have noticed an almost total lack of posting. People shopping my Etsy and website will have noticed a lack of in-stock items and new introductions. My schedule is such that I’ve got two days per week to sequester myself in the studio and make as much as possible. Between made-to-order items from Etsy and building up inventory for the upcoming Flower & Garden Show I just haven’t had any time for anything else. Which makes this little potters heart feel, well, a little TAXED!

Despite this I have been quietly working on some new designs, and although I have not been sharing I do plan to reveal them soon. You can expect a sudden blossoming of pottery to spring forth some time in mid to late April…you know, after the 15th.

Thank you for being patient…I promise it will be worth the wait.
