Woodfired Vase no. 3
- Description
- Care & use
These one-of-a-kind vases are an ongoing exploration of some of my favorite past motifs. The woodfiring process has brought them to life with its own unique magic, creating surfaces and textures that are delightful and varied.
No two are alike. They stand easily on their own or with a few stems, adding a quiet kind of presence to a shelf, table, or windowsill.
This one is definitely bedazzled, but in a quiet way. The woodfiring process bestowed two distinct vases in one - while the front is washed with glossy watercolor shades of blue, green, and brown, the other side is stoney and cool, coated in granite-like gray and cobalt.
Please note, there is a blemish on the bottom where one of the wads (pieces of fireclay used during firing to prevent the piece from sticking to the kiln shelf) chipped the surface when it was removed. It does not affect the functionality of the piece. This one will come with a piece of felt or cork covering the bottom so that the chipped surface does not damage your furniture.
Approximately 5.25" tall x 3" wide
Individually handmade on the potters wheel, hand decorated in our Boonsboro, MD studio, then lovingly wood-fired at Sherman Ceramics in Wolfsville, MD.
